THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS WORKS TO STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Corrections will recognize 34 individuals who have successfully completed a six-week Domestic Violence and Anger Management training. The participants will receive completion certificates during a recognition ceremony on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. One of the goals for the Domestic Violence training is to teach the batterer to examine his/her internal triggers and to develop solutions which lead to the reduction or elimination of acts of violence on their part.
“Our goal is to offer programs that help detainees return to the community better than when they entered (the detention center) and we have seen domestic violence lead to tragic situations so this is our strategy to help address that concern," said Director McDonough regarding the program. The Domestic Violence and Anger Management course has been a part of the programs offered to inmates since 2006.
