MD 337/SUITLAND PARKWAY UTILITY WORK SAT 3/12
Beginning Saturday, March 12 at 6 a.m. (weather permitting), contractors performing work for the Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) State Highway Administration (SHA) will intermittently perform total traffic stops to perform activity related to SHA’s road widening project.
The work consists of removal of an aerial telecommunications cable that is in place on Allentown Road at the Suitland Road intersection near the main gate of Joint Base Andrews Air Force Base. The cable being removed is a non-working cable with no service impacts. The company performing the work is an authorized contactor for Verizon. In case of inclement weather, the work will be performed on March 19.
To complete this work, crews will require intermittent 15-minute road closures at the intersection of Allentown Road and Suitland Parkway on both roads. Drivers should add extra commute time for this work. Weather and progress permitting, all lanes will reopen to traffic later that afternoon.
So that the operation can be completed as quickly and as safely as possible, the company performing the work will have all necessary traffic control devices and personnel in place and will work collaboratively with Maryland State Police to control traffic inside the work zone at the Allentown Road/Suitland Road intersection.
If you have any questions regarding this work, please contact Mr. James B. Curtin, Supervisor, Lamberts Cable Splicing Company, LLC, 301-356-3893, james.curtin@lambertcable.com or Mr. Hamid Falaki, SHA Project Engineer, hfalaki@sha.state.md.us, 240.338.8431.
