County Executive Baker will host the first of two public hearings on the proposed FY 2017 Prince George’s County budget on Thursday, February 4 at the Prince George’s Community College (PGCC), (Rennie Forum, 301 Largo Road, Largo) and the second budget hearing will be on February 9th at Laurel High School (8000 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD). Both hearings will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to attend the public hearings and provide suggestions for the County Executive to consider for inclusion into the overall budget. Citizens interested in testifying are encouraged to pre-register by calling (301) 952-4547 or to register online at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov. Comments will be timed and limited to three (3) minutes per person. All budget hearings will be streamed live on the County’s website at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov.
Celebrate and honor African American heritage during Black
History Month this February. From performances to history lessons to tours,
there are plenty of exciting events and activities planned throughout Prince
George’s County.
On Sunday, at Harmony Hall Regional Art Center, there was an opening reception for the exhibit, "What
Remains: The Archaeological Discoveries of African-American Life in Prince
George's County," which focuses on African-American life in the county from the
late 1600s to early 1900s. Using artifacts, interactive displays and images, the
exhibit illuminates spirituality, home life, children, and consumerism of
African-Americans in Prince George's County. The exhibition runs through Monday, February 29, 2016. The address is 10701 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744.
