New OHEP program year starts July 1, 2022
The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) provides bill assistance to low-income households in the State of Maryland to make their energy costs more affordable and to help with the prevention of loss and the restoration of home energy service. OHEP's new program year will begin accepting applications on July 1, 2022. If you applied to and received assistance from OHEP between July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022, you will be eligible to apply for assistance again through OHEP starting July 1, 2022. Be prepared, and start gathering your required documents.
Check out the OPC energy assistance toolkit which includes a step-by-step guide and video to help you keep your power on.
If you are worried about falling behind on your utility bills and need more time, call your utility company and request a payment plan of up to 12 months with no money down. If you are an Office of Home Energy (OHEP) customer, you may be able to request a payment plan of up to 24 months with no money down.
