Moderate/Severe Flooding Expected to Continue Through Monday
OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 2, 2015): Today’s high tide brought projected flooding to Ocean City, with low-lying areas experiencing nearly 5’ flood inundation. The current storm system will continue to impact Ocean City through Monday.
In a proactive measure, Delmarva Power temporarily turned off power in areas south of North Division Street and Baltimore Avenue. The power has been restored, however; residents and property owners could experience additional power outages during the duration of the storm. The Town of Ocean City will continue to update citizens of utility outages as frequently as possible, however; citizens can view outages at: http://www.delmarva.com/pages/connectwithus/outages/outagemaps.aspx
The weekend forecast will continue to bring light rain and strong wind gusts, reaching approximately 50 mph. In addition, roadways in Ocean City, specifically in the downtown area, could close to traffic during tidal cycles if water becomes impassible. The Inlet Parking Lot and the beach are closed to the public until further notice. With flooding expected in the area until Monday, residents and property owners in ALL Zone A and B locations should prepare for moderate to severe flooding over the next several days.
Before, during and after the storm, the Town of Ocean City will be posting storm related information on various websites, social media outlets and through the Emergency Alert system. The next update is expected to be before 11 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, October 3.
