Delivering Support to Families with Young Learners

What’s on your mind?

Friends talking

Talking to someone you trust – whether a friend, a family member, or a colleague – can help. You may feel better if you are able to openly share what you are going through with someone who cares about you and can provide emotional support and practical help.

Supportive friends and family can keep you grounded, help you get things in perspective, and help you manage the stuff that life throws at you.

10 Self-care Tips for Spring

When to Get Help

Get professional help if you are having serious or tough issues that have lasted two weeks or more. Here are some signs that you may need help:

  • Sleeping problems
  • Eating habit changes that cause your weight to change
  • Having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning
  • Having a hard time focusing
  • Not wanting to do things you usually like to do
  • Not able to do things you do every day

Don’t wait until your symptoms are too much to handle. Talk about your concerns with your doctor, who can refer you to a mental health specialist if needed.

WOYC

Step It Up

“Step It Up” for the annual Week of the Young Child (WOYC) celebration from April 2-8 by planting a vegetable garden, making a family band, spring cleaning, and creating a work of art with your child. Partner with teachers and providers to ensure your child’s development and learning. Start by encouraging learning at home, connect with teachers and providers, participate in program or school events, and volunteer for WOYC activities. Visiting a program

Are you looking for child care? Have you found child care programs that you like?

If so, this short video is for you!

Phone interviews offer a great chance to get acquainted with child care providers. But there is no replacement for in-person interactions. So once you’ve shortened your list of potential child care providers, it’s time to visit the programs.

Find your best options for high quality child care and early education programs at MarylandEXCELS.org and search the Find a Program directory.
