Maryland Family Network (MFN) is pleased to announce two opportunities for trainers or those interested in becoming trainers!
The Advanced Training of Trainers provides an opportunity for experienced trainers to enhance their skills and knowledge of training techniques.
The next series is scheduled for February 18 and 19, 2022 – this series will be conducted virtually utilizing the Zoom platform.

For those interested in becoming an approved trainer by MSDE for the child care community, one of the requirements is to complete a training of trainers specific to adult learning. MFN is pleased to offer the Responsive Training Symposium (more informally known as the Training of Trainers or TOT) to support the expansion of skilled trainers throughout Maryland for the early care and education community. This 3-module (split into 6 sessions) series covers a wide range of knowledge and skills necessary to become a skilled trainer. The next series is scheduled to begin March 3, 2022 and is open for registration.

45 Hour Critical Competencies For Infant-Toddler Educators
The 45-hour course can now be taken to meet the requirement for the 45-hour Infant Toddler curriculum course. Please visit the following webpage to find a trainer and upcoming training dates.
Providers credentialed at a level 2 or higher are eligible to apply for a training voucher to attend the 45-hour Critical Competencies training.

Probational Teacher Qualifications Policy
On May 18, 2021, House Bill 597/Senate Bill 436(HB-597/SB-436) was signed into law with an effective date of July 1, 2021. HB-597/SB-436 requires MSDE to regulate on certain qualifications for probationary employment for an individual applying for the first time to be a child care teacher for children who are at least three (3) years old; requiring a child care center at the end of a 6-month probationary period to terminate or reassign an individual who has not completed the required pre-service training.

Free Workshops for Caregivers and Educators
Arts for Learning Maryland, formerly Young Audiences of Maryland, will host a series of SIX FREE VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS for educators and caregivers.
These 90-minute workshops will take place on Zoom and support early childhood educators in discovering new arts strategies that support the development of our youngest learners in the classroom.

MSDE Announces Second Round of Child Care Stabilization Grant Applications
Recognizing their critical role in the education community, MSDE is expediting the release of $125+ million in ARP grant funds to child care providers.
MSDE has simplified the application process & will provide close support January 3 - 23.
In this round of funding, all eligible providers will receive a base grant of $10,000 and eligible providers will receive additional funds, per licensed child care slot based on criteria outlined in the Child Care Stabilization Grant guidelines.
