Scam Alert: Social Media
The Office of Child Care (OCC) has been made aware of a potential scam being shared through social media that is not being offered or endorsed by the MSDE. The OCC wants to ensure the child care community is mindful and does not share any personal or financial information with anyone or entity that you do not know. In addition, your tax status has nothing to do with the requirement to be registered or licensed to provide child care in the state of Maryland. If you are offering or providing care to even one non-related child on a regular basis for any type of payment (cash, donations, goods or services) then you are required to be registered or licensed with the OCC. Please be advised the information that you may hear or receive is not endorsed by the OCC.
