Needs Assessment Pinpoints Challenges, Sets Priorities for Maryland’s Early Childhood System
The Needs Assessment process, implemented throughout the spring of this year, involved several activities designed to maximize stakeholder input, including 18 town hall meetings across the State; 17 regional focus groups; and surveys.
The Needs Assessment findings have been compiled into two reports. The reports, as well as executive summaries, are available here.

CDA® Renewal Amnesty Program
Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, the Council for Professional Recognition will be celebrating 45 years of the CDA®! To celebrate, the Council will offer a limited-time CDA® Renewal Amnesty Program. This program will allow anyone with a CDA® credential expiration date as far back as January 1, 2010, an opportunity to complete the renewal process and make their credential active again.

The Department of Defense (DoD) has increased access to quality child care options for eligible military familes through its fee assistance program Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN). On October 1, 2019, the DoD launched a pilot program known as MCCYN-PLUS. This pilot includes programs that participate in Maryland EXCELS and meet the eligibility requirements for MCCYN.

Montgomery College, through a generous grant from the PNC Foundation, is offering students the opportunity to complete the 32-hour CDA Professional Portfolio Development class, receive instructional materials, two 2-hour visits to the student's family care, and payment of the $425 CDA application fee, all for the cost of $75.
