The Montgomery County Grant Opportunities Newsletter provides grant seeking stakeholders with a concrete schedule of new, currently open, and soon to be launched grant programs as well as status updates for closed grant programs. The newsletter also highlights the Office of Grants Management (OGM) events, non-County grant opportunities, and other events/news items of interest to grant seeking stakeholders. (Launched Thursday, July 23 and will close Tuesday, September 1): The Asian American Health Initiative, part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Office of Grants Management (OGM) will solicit grant applications for the County’s FY2027 Healthy Communities Fund Grants Program from qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. $1,600,000 in total grant funding will be made available to qualified service providers to administer culturally and linguistically appropriate programs and services that improve the health and

FY27 School-Based Food Assistance Grant Program Renewal: (Launched Wednesday, August 5 and will close Wednesday, August 19): If eligible, organizations with a current (FY26) SBFA award should have received a Notification Letter from the Office of Grants Management informing them of this opportunity, directing them to the appropriate module, and providing detailed instructions on how to submit their proposal. Please contact OGM at grants@montgomerycountymd.gov with any questions.

- FY 2028 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Grant Program: (Anticipated Launch August 24, 2026) The Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs, and the Office of Grants Management (OGM) are soliciting applications to be included as partners in the County’s grant application to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) FY 2028 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant program from qualified nonprofit organizations.

FY27 Fair Housing Testing Services Grant Program — CDBG-Funded: (Anticipated launch during August 2026) The goal of this grant program is to solicit applications from eligible nonprofits or civil rights organizations with expertise in fair housing testing. $20,000 in total grant funding will be made available for awarded grantees to identify and analyze evidence of housing discrimination discovered through its fair housing testing in the County.
- FY27 EquiCare: Subsidy Seats Grant Program (Cohort 2): (Anticipated launch in early September 2026) The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Early Childhood Services will solicit grant applications from licensed childcare providers located in Montgomery County to cover the cost of quality childcare funding for infants and toddlers (age 6 weeks through 3 years). The grant will aim to enhance the availability of high-quality infant and toddler childcare seats and address the needs of families that do not meet the eligibility criteria for current early childhood public programs.

FY27 Cost Sharing Capital Grants Program: The application window for this program closed on July 7, 2026. Applications are currently under review. Due to systems issues with the Euna platform reviews have been delayed as repairs had to be made to applications. These issues have continued and have unfortunately slowed down the review process. OGM continues to work with Euna to resolve these issues and get the review process closed out.

FY27 Community Grant Program Renewals: The extended deadline for renewal applications closed on Friday August 7, 2026 with Euna remaining open until the morning of Monday August 10, 2026. OGM and departments are reviewing proposals, asking for changes/corrections where necessary, and otherwise moving grant agreements along the development and approval process. For organizations who are not compliant with the Maryland Secretary of State (SOS) requirement, we are moving your proposals forward in the review and development process on the assumption that you are taking or have taken all steps necessary to get compliant. Please inform OGM as soon as the Maryland SOS website shows you as compliant. OGM cannot recommend for an award an organization that is not compliant with Maryland law.

FY26 Fentanyl Use, Overdose, and Death Reduction Grant Program: The application window for this program closed on June 3, 2026. Applications are currently under review. Due to a funding issue, awards are expected to be issued with FY27 funds and not FY26 resources.

FY26 Nonprofit Federal Resilience (NFR) Grant Program: The results for the applications that met the Priority Deadline have been approved and OGM has transmitted Notification Letters to all applicants. All applications, including those that did not meet the Priority Deadline, have been fully reviewed and scored. OGM is analyzing the review data and developing award recommendations for the CAO.

FY26 Nonprofit Strategic Planning Grant Program: The results for the applications that met the Priority Deadline have been approved and OGM has transmitted Notification Letters to all applicants. Some applications that did not meet the Priority Deadline remain under review and will receive results notifications at a later date.

Scale your organization with a grant-supported employee and cultivate the next generation of Maryland talent with The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option Program. The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option (MC/SYO) Program through Maryland’s Department of Service and Civic Innovation (DSCI) connects young adults—primarily 18–24-year-olds—with Maryland organizations for a minimum 9-month workforce and service opportunity. By becoming a partner, your organization enters a community of Host Site Partners who grow our state’s talent pipeline with energetic and service-minded talent. FREE RESOURCES, TRAINING, AND CONSULTING TO HELP NONPROFITS GROW: The Maryland Nonprofit Development Center (NDC) offers free educational workshops and events that are tailored to nascent or small Maryland nonprofits. Joining NDC provides members with access to FREE educational workshops and events; ability to network in an online community; seek additional help; and Receive 1-on-1 technical assistance from nonprofit experts.
To be eligible to join the NDC, Maryland-based 501 (c) (3), (4), or (6) must be less than 10 years old and have an operating budget under $750,000. Maryland Nonprofits members who qualify for the NDC get a complimentary registration to the Maryland Nonprofits & MARFY annual conference.

US HHS National Resource Centers: Applications due September 8, 2026. Nonprofits that focus primarily on issues of domestic violence and meet other statutory requirements for resource centers may apply to support efforts to prevent and respond to family, domestic, and dating violence by providing information, training, and technical assistance to individuals, organizations, government agencies, and communities. The maximum grant is $3,000,000.

US HHS Community Economic Development Projects: Applications due September 8, 2026. Community Development Corporations (CDC) may apply for discretionary funds to enhance job creation and business development for individuals with low income. The maximum grant is $800,000.

Reinvestment Fund: America's Healthy Food Financing Initiative Food Access and Retail Expansion Fund: Part A – Capacity Building and Part B - Credit Enhancement - FY 2026-2028: Applications due by September 18, 2026. Nonprofits, for-profits, and academic institutions may apply for projects that create or expand a food retail outlet or food enterprise that support food supply chain resiliency; improve access to healthy foods in underserved areas; create and preserve quality jobs; and revitalize low-income communities. The maximum Capacity Building grant is $1,000,000 and maximum Credit Enhancement grant is $3,000,000.

USDA Cold Chain Grants for Emergency Food Assistance: Applications due by October 1, 2026. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit may be selected to provide management, oversight, consultation and expertise through a subaward program to support cold storage within the middle of the supply chain to food banks, faith-based organizations, and other public or private nonprofit organizations that provide nutrition assistance, such as prepared meals or food for use at home, to people with low-income or challenging financial circumstances. The maximum award is $7,500,000.

The Herb Block Foundation (Multiple: Defending Basic Freedoms and Pathways out of Poverty): Applications due October 6, 2026 (Defending) and February 3, 2027 (Pathways). 501(c)(3) nonprofits may apply for funds to defend basic freedoms, combat all forms of
discrimination and prejudice, and improve the condition of the poor and underprivileged. Pathways out of Poverty is limited to applicants located in the DMV. The maximum grant is $25,000.

Whole Foods Market Foundation and The Bee Cause Project: Bee Grants - FY 2027: Applications due October 15, 2026. Nonprofits and schools that serve K-12 may apply for money or equipment to bring live bees to campus or grow an already existing educational hive program. The maximum cash grant is $1,500.

Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR): Digitizing Hidden Collections: Amplifying Unheard Voices - FY 2026: Applications due October 20, 2026. Nonprofits, schools, academic institutions, and government entities may apply. to digitize materials that deepen public understanding of the histories of people of color and other communities and populations whose work, experiences, and perspectives have been insufficiently recognized or unattended. The maximum grant is $300,000.

United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund: Inquiries accepted on a rolling basis. Nonprofits may request support for Workforce development initiatives and programs focused on oral health; Dental care for the uninsured and underinsured; and Business inclusion initiatives, including oral health equity. Past grants have ranged from $3,500 to $100,000.

The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation: Applications accepted on a rolling basis. 501(c)(3) nonprofits may apply to support education, agriculture, the environment, public safety, hunger and poverty, and health and social services. Nonprofits, research institutions, and universities may apply for projects to protect pollinator health and support ecologically responsible agriculture. The maximum Impact Grant is $75,000 and the maximum Catalyst Grant is $10,000.

Library of Congress Lewis-Houghton Civics and Democracy Initiative - FY 2027-2029: Applications due September 18, 2026. A wide range of nonprofits, schools, academic institutions, government entities, and consortia may apply to support the design and implementation of educational projects in which rights-free materials from the Library of Congress' music or creative digital collections (digitized primary sources and other online materials) are central to teaching and learning about history, civics, and/or democracy. Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and Dollar Tree: Litter Study Solutions Grants - FY 2026: Applications due August 31, 2026. Keep America Beautiful affiliates (nonprofits, for-profits, private sector) may apply for projects that address tire dumping and vehicle debris, microtrash, cardboard litter, plastic and other single-use items, and coastal cleanups in inaccessible areas as identified in the 2026 National Litter Study. The maximum grant is $5,000.

Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and Scotts Miracle-Gro: Mini Green Grants FY 2026: Applications due August 31, 2026. Nonprofits, for-profits, private sector, and local governments may apply to support community beautification through the planting of spring-blooming bulbs, plants, or plugs during the fall planting season. The maximum grant is $500.

Panorama Global: Innovative Postsecondary Models (IPM) Fund - FY 2026: Applications due September 14, 2026. A range of organizations may apply for innovative postsecondary education models that are rethinking how education is designed, delivered, financed, and assessed for learners in the United States. The grant range is $750,000 to $1,000,000.

Brady Education Foundation Research Project (RP) and Existing Program Evaluation (EPE) - FY 2026: Letters of Intent accepted on a rolling basis. Nonprofits and academic institutions may apply to implement research projects and program evaluations so as to improve educational outcomes for children, including those living in low-income communities, by promoting collaboration among researchers, educators, and other stakeholders. Grants typically range from as low as $20,000 to as high as $375,000.

Peter R. Marsh Foundation: Middle School Music Grant - FY 2026/2027: Applications accepted between July 1st and January 31st. Hopey's Heart Foundation: AED Grant Program - FY 2026: Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Nonprofits, local governments, and schools may apply for life-saving automatic external defibrillator (AED) equipment to improve sports safety and raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest.

Prism Foundation: Community Grant - FY 2026: Applications due September 7, 2026. 501(c)3 nonprofits may apply to support community events, films, ethnographic surveys, and training tools that positively impact the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) LGBTQIA+ communities. The maximum grant is $10,000.

National Endowment for the Arts: Arts & Artifacts Indemnity Program: International Indemnity applications due September 14, 2026 and March 8, 2027; Domestic Indemnity applications due December, 2026 and June 7, 2026. Eligibility varies by program and includes nonprofits, government entities, and educational institutions. The program helps to provide the American people with access to art and artifacts of historical and cultural significance by minimizing the costs of insuring traveling exhibitions. The maximum award is $100,000.

US NEH Scholarly Editions and Translations - FY 2026: Applications due September 16, 2026. 501(c)3 nonprofits, local governments, and Institutions of Higher Education may apply to support collaborative teams who edit, annotate, and translate foundational humanities texts that are vital to generating new scholarship but are not available in adequate editions or translations. This year’s competition is limited to projects on American history and culture or Western civilization. The maximum award is $1,000,000.

First Responders Children's Foundation (FRCF): Community Engagement Grant: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, first come first served until funds are spent. This program helps foster healthy relationships between first responders and the children in the communities they serve, while also inspiring a new generation that may have an interest in a first responder career. The Dale Junior Foundation FY25 Monetary and In-Kind Donations. Applications for funding due in October annually; Rolling basis for in-kind requests. Nonprofits may request support for programs that empower underprivileged individuals, with a focus on youth, by providing resources that will boost confidence, provide safe homes for children needing a new start, enhance education, support wellness and health services, address youth hunger, and create hope.
