Trust Act is Now Law

I am so proud that the Trust Act is now law!

We have seen the devastating consequences of ICE’s cruel and inhumane practices, including the horrific killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. These tragedies remind us why it is important to stand firm in our values and protect all our neighbors.

Every resident deserves to feel safe in Montgomery County. Safe communities begin with trust. The Trust Act is more than a law – it is a promise. It says we choose compassion over fear and dignity over division.

Public Hearing on Infrastructure Projects

What does a $6.6 billion investment in our county’s future look like? That is the size of our capital budget, which is used to build schools, libraries, recreation centers, parks, roads, transit, bridges and more.

My favorite part of the four public hearings was listening to students advocate for their future. Their clarity and commitment were inspiring — and a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much.

Black History Celebration

The Black History Assembly celebration was nothing short of inspiring! I was honored to present the award for educational excellence to London Woodruff, an outstanding technology and engineering teacher at Montgomery Village Middle School.

The student performances radiated joy and pride, making this celebration a true reflection of our community’s spirit. It was a terrific event all around and I am grateful to everyone who made it so special.

Ramadan Mubarak

I want to extend my warmest wishes to all our Muslim neighbors celebrating Ramadan. This holy month of Islam is a time of peace, reflection, and community – a chance to renew faith and strengthen bonds with family and friends.

May this Ramadan bring you and your loved ones blessings, health, and joy.

Lunar New Year

Welcome to the Year of the Fire Horse! I had a wonderful time celebrating the Lunar New Year with the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center at Westfield Montgomery and with our partners from the City of Rockville.

The performances lit up the venues with music, dance, and pride for heritage. Moments like these remind me why Montgomery County is so special. Our diversity isn’t something we just talk about – it is something we live and celebrate together.

Constituent Corner

A Gaithersburg resident contacted my office after their request to repair a burned-out streetlight was not fulfilled during the estimated time. My team followed up with First Energy, which promptly dispatched a crew to repair the streetlight the weekend after we escalated the request with them.

If you need help navigating Montgomery County government, fill out this form and my team and I will assist you.

Did You Know?

Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) recently conducted a “pothole blitz” to quickly service thousands of potholes on 5,400 lane miles of County roads following the winter storm.

If you find potholes after the blitz, you can report them online here or by calling the County call center 311. You can also submit requests for pothole repairs on state-maintained highways via the State Highway Administration’s online service request form or by calling 301-513-7300.
