Winter Storm Response

I hope you are all staying safe and warm as we continue to dig out from this weekend's winter storm. I want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has plowed streets, shoveled sidewalks and treated our roads in these bitter conditions. I have also heard from many residents who are frustrated with the storm response — I remain in close contact with MCDOT's Storm Operations Center and the County Executive and will continue to share snow removal concerns with them.

With sub-freezing temperatures continuing and the possibility of more snow in the forecast, I want to make sure you know how to access important updates and information. You can use the county's Winter Storm Information Portal to learn who is responsible for plowing your street, check the status of snow removal, and submit a service request if there is an issue in your neighborhood.

I am here to help if you have any questions or need assistance during this winter weather. Please contact my office or fill out our service request form and we will be in touch.

Data Centers

Nearly every day residents share their concerns with me about large-scale data centers. From the costs to local electric bills and strain on the power grid, to the environmental concerns and increased noise, Montgomery County residents have a lot of questions that need to be discussed and analyzed before we move forward with any proposals.

That is why on January 20 I introduced Bill 4-26 to establish a task force to study the impacts of data centers in Montgomery County. A public hearing is scheduled for February 24 at 1:30 PM.

These are complex issues that warrant careful, data-driven review and meaningful public input. These decisions should not be rushed.

My goal is to ensure Montgomery County has a thoughtful framework that balances innovation with community protection and long-term environmental sustainability.

Stopping ICE in MoCo

Across the country, we are witnessing atrocities that are tearing families apart and violating our fundamental constitutional rights. I see what is happening in Minneapolis and am committed to ensuring those unlawful actions do not happen in Montgomery County. Protecting our neighbors and preserving the dignity of every resident are core values of our community.

That is why I am proud to support legislation that impedes federal law enforcement agents from acting with impunity. As a proud co-sponsor of the Trust Act, County Values Act, and Unmask ICE Act, I will always stand up to protect the Constitution and the rule of law.

I believe we must use every tool available to ensure that our immigrant communities feel safe, protected and welcome in Montgomery County and that our fundamental constitutional rights are protected.

Day of Service

I extend my sincere appreciation to the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Montgomery County Volunteer Center for hosting the 2026 MLK Day of Service and Volunteer Fair.

The shared commitment to service and impact was inspiring and serves as a testament to the strength of our community.

Veganuary

I had a great time celebrating “Veganuary” at Rooted3 in Bethesda! This local, women-owned restaurant offers 100% plant-based meals that are healthy and delicious.

Thank you to the Veg Society of DC, Rockville Vegans, and The Humane League for organizing this great event and encouraging everyone to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet this month.

Constituent Corner

Residents from a Silver Spring condo were concerned about the impact the Purple Line construction was having on drainage in their parking lot. Their drainage pipe was removed during construction along the Capital Crescent Trail and had yet to be replaced. My team stepped in and got the Purple Line to acknowledge that this was a problem and explain how they would mitigate it. The first concrete steps to replace the drainage system have been taken.

If you need help navigating Montgomery County government, fill out this form and my team and I will assist you.

Replacement drainage is currently being installed.
