Protecting Permanent Supportive Housing

I was proud to join the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless and other housing service providers at a rally in Gaithersburg to express support for federal housing programs that provide stability and dignity for residents experiencing homelessness. U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development is proposing a $3.5 billion cut to essential housing funds, putting families at risk and threatening programs that keep people safely housed.

My thanks to the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, Interfaith Works, and all our partners for their unwavering commitment to this work.

Montgomery County must continue to lead and I’ll keep fighting to protect these vital services and ensure every resident has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day is a time to recognize the generosity and civic spirit of individuals, businesses, and organizations that make our community stronger. With more than 7,200 nonprofit organizations serving residents across the county, philanthropy continues to play a vital role in advancing equity, uplifting vulnerable communities, expanding educational opportunities, supporting the arts, and addressing urgent needs.

From volunteers dedicating their time to donors investing in local causes, Montgomery County’s culture of giving reflects the best of who we are: compassionate, generous, and community-minded. I honor all those whose acts of kindness and service help build a more inclusive and resilient Montgomery County.

Groundbreaking of the New Shirdi Sai Temple

It was a joy to join community members for the groundbreaking of the new DC Metro Saisamsthan Shirdi Sai Temple just outside Damascus. This long-awaited project represents more than a new building – it is the creation of a spiritual home where residents can gather in peace, reflection, service, and community.

The new temple will serve thousands across our region and stands as a testament to the dedication and vision of everyone who helped make this milestone possible. Congratulations to the leaders, volunteers, and families whose hard work has brought this project to life.

Launching the Villages Consortium

Montgomery County Villages Consortium has officially launched! It is an exciting milestone in our ongoing commitment to support older adults across the county.

The Villages Consortium brings together local volunteer-led networks that help aging residents remain connected, independent, and engaged in their communities. By fostering collaboration and sharing resources, the Consortium strengthens our collective effort to make Montgomery County a place where everyone can age with dignity and choice.

I encourage you to learn more about the Villages located across the county and the Consortium.

Civic Association Meetings

Before I joined the Council I was president of two different civic associations, which is why I always appreciate visiting communities and talking with residents. I recently met with the East Silver Spring Civic Association and the Brookmont Civic League to discuss street safety, supporting small businesses and our schools.

If you would like to invite me to your next civic association meeting, please send me an email: councilmember.glass@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Constituent Corner

A Bethesda resident reached out to our office after trying to get help from the State Highway Administration (SHA) about overgrown trees blocking traffic signs and signals at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Cheshire Drive. After our team elevated the request to SHA, the agency quickly responded and trimmed the branches, restoring clear visibility for drivers and pedestrians.

If you need help navigating Montgomery County government, fill out this form and my team and I will assist you.
