Montgomery County Recreation, along with the County's Sports Advisory Committee and the cities of Gaithersburg, Rockville and Takoma Park, has endorsed the Children's Bill of Rights in Sports.
The Children's Bill of Rights in Sports was developed by the Project Play initiative of the Aspen Institute Sports and Society program and is designed around the idea that all youth should have the opportunity to develop as people through sports. The Children's Bill of Rights in Sports identifies eight rights:
To play sports.
To safe and healthy environments.
To qualified program leaders.
To developmentally appropriate play.
To share in the planning and delivery of their activities.
