Dear Friends,
Yesterday, the Montgomery County Council reached a preliminary agreement on the County’s $7.6 billion Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Operating Budget and the $6 billion amended FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program (CIP).
Coming into this year, we knew there would be challenges ahead but we remained committed to developing a budget that meets the collective needs of our diverse community and underscores our values. The Montgomery County Council’s budget process for fiscal year 2026 was inclusive, transparent and collaborative. And I'm proud to share that this Council delivered for our residents and businesses.
Montgomery County’s Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget funds our collective and essential priorities to meet the critical needs of our wonderfully diverse community today, with an eye toward our ever-changing fiscal future. We have continued our unyielding commitment to support education, public safety, social safety net services, and our dedicated employees who are essential to all areas of public service.
I am grateful to my Council colleagues and staff for their critical fiscal analysis and thoughtful deliberations that have enabled us to reach this preliminary agreement.
