I recently enjoyed meeting with the executive board of Eco MoCo, a student-led organization that is making our community more environmentally friendly while fostering the next generation of local leadership.
These students know an impressive amount about local environmental laws, asked smart questions and bolstered my optimism in a greener future.

Thank you to Montgomery College for hosting a discussion with with D.C. Councilmember Zachary Parker and me about our paths to public service and protecting residents of Maryland and the District of Columbia during this time of uncertainty.
We may represent the two sides of Eastern Avenue, but we are united in our work.
My thanks to Montgomery College Professor Michael Huggins for organizing the event!

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is on Saturday, May 17! For 15 years, the Festival has been one of the nation’s top literary events, with hundreds of the country’s best authors, poets and songwriters coming each year to engage in conversation, foster an interest in reading and celebrate the written word.
Festival events will be held all day across Bohrer Park, but I am particularly excited to moderate a discussion with Paul Sparrow about his book Awakening the Spirit of America: FDR's War of Words With Charles Lindbergh—and the Battle to Save Democracy. Our conversation will be held in the Gertrude Stein Pavilion at 11:00 am.
All events are free to attend, and you can find more information about this year’s featured books and authors on the Gaithersburg Book Festival website. I hope to see you there!
Ivymount School is a beacon of hope, empowerment and education for students with diverse learning needs.
It was wonderful visiting Ivymount School and Outreach Programs for their 12th annual resource fair. From workshops to businesses, everyone deserves the ability to celebrate their unique potential.

Life can feel like a merry-go-round these days, but the brand-new carousel at Wheaton Regional Park is the kind of ride we can all enjoy.
With hand-painted fiberglass horses and zebras and a majestic wheelchair-accessible chariot, the new carousel is fun for the whole family.
I had a blast at the grand opening, and I know it will bring so much joy to families across Montgomery County. You can find operating hours and ticket prices on the Wheaton Regional Park website.

A Silver Spring resident sent a video of a fire hydrant gushing water onto a neighborhood street after being hit by a truck. My team flagged it for WSSC, who wrote back 30 minutes later to inform us that a crew was en route to make repairs. The hydrant was quickly fixed, which prevented major water damage to the street.
