Summer Camp Fair and Registration
There is still one opportunity to check out our summer camp fair! We'll see you this Saturday, Jan. 11 at East County Community Recreation Center from 1 - 4 p.m. Make sure to stop by and check out the crafts, games, snacks and more.
At the fair, families can meet with recreation staff members and talk with instructors to ask questions and learn more about the offerings. You will also be able to apply on site for Rec Assist, the Department's financial assistance program. These events are a great opportunity to get information about the hundreds of offerings as well as experience fun camp games and activities.
And make sure to mark your calendar! Registration for summer camps will begin Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 a.m. for County residents. Registration will be available online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. The administrative office, located at 2425 Reedie Drive, 10th floor, will open at 6:30 a.m. for in-person registration assistance.

Get Your Free 2025 RecFit Membership Today
RecFit passes continue to be free for Montgomery County residents in 2025. The free RecFit pass provides access to fully equipped fitness rooms, open gym (drop-in) activities and game rooms at any community recreation center during regularly scheduled hours.
Current RecFit passes will be extended through June 30, 2025. During the first six months of 2025, residents will be able to renew their pass for a full year by visiting the front desk at any center. Proof of residency will need to be confirmed.
With a valid pass residents can work out with equipment in the fitness rooms, as well as enjoy table tennis in the game rooms, drop-in pickleball, volleyball, basketball and more.
Residents can sign up for the pass in-person at any County recreation center during business hours. The pass can then be used at any of the County’s recreation centers. Proof of residency (a valid photo ID with an address or a photo ID with a current utility bill) must be provided by County residents to receive the free pass, and for annual renewal. Passholders must also have a photo on file.
Non-County residents can purchase a pass at a price of $20 for one month, $80 for six months and $150 for one year. Visit the website for more information.

Showcase Your Talent at Fashion Boot Camp
Are you a 12–18-year-old middle school or high school student interested in modeling and performing? Our Youth Development team is getting ready to begin its Fashion Boot Camp program.
The program combines fashion, music and performing arts all together into one unique experience!Hear from some of last year's participants in this video. Over the course of the 10-week program, participants learn how to walk the runway, in preparation for a showcase event which allows participants to show off what they have learned to a crowd of family and friends.
Fashion Boot Camp will meet on Fridays at East County Recreation Center from 7 to 9:30 p.m., starting Friday, Jan. 17, and will culminate with the showcase finale performance on Friday, March 22. A parent/guardian of participants must attend the general interest meeting on Friday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
The Damascus Senior Center is closing at the end of February as it prepares to undergo renovations. The center will close Friday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.
During the closure, programming will be moving to the Damascus Community Recreation Center, located at 25520 Oak Drive, Damascus. Programming is scheduled to begin during March.

Become a Lifeguard with MoCoRec
Start a new job in 2025 as a lifeguard with Montgomery County Recreation!
As a lifeguard, you will monitor water safety in County pools, supervise swim sessions, enforce health and safety rules, perform pool maintenance and cleaning, provide lifesaving assistance when needed and learn something new every day!
To apply you must be at least 15, have a current lifeguard certification, CPR and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross, YMCA or other approved organization, be reliable and have good communication skills and be able to pass a water test and meet required physical demands.

Senior Neighborhood Programs
Looking to enjoy activities and community with fellow County residents? Our Senior Neighborhood Programs for adults 55+ provide a wide array of programming including fitness, arts, events and more, at many of our recreation centers across the County.

Apply Now for 2025 Rec Assist
We are accepting applications for 2025 Rec Assist, the Department’s financial assistance program. Rec Assist provides County residents who receive eligible public assistance an opportunity to receive a scholarship to use toward most activities and memberships.
County residents who receive public assistance from any of these programs are eligible for Rec Assist: Care for Kids; Free and Reduced-Price Meal Services (FARMS); Heat and Eat (H-EAT), Housing Assistance from a Shelter; Maryland Energy Assistance; Maryland Medicaid; Montgomery County HHS Rental Assistance Program; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Supplemental Social Security Income; Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) and WIC. Any student who attends a Montgomery County Public School participating in Community Eligibility Provision is eligible.
Once approved, each eligible family member will receive $400 placed on the qualifying individual's ActiveMONTGOMERY account for use. Rec Assist funds are available for use through Dec. 31, 2025, or until the funds are depleted. Funds are available on a first come, first served basis.
Rec Assist applications are accepted online, by mail to Montgomery County Recreation, Attention Rec Assist, 2425 Reedie Drive, 10th Floor, Wheaton, MD, 20902 or can be dropped off at that same address Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Once your application is approved, the amount of eligible assistance will be placed on your ActiveMONTGOMERY account within 10 business days.
