Resources for Seniors
There are over 30 Senior Villages in Montgomery County working to help their fellow neighbors age in place. I recently met with village leaders at the council to discuss ways we can support their work to foster community and connectedness.
You can check out this website to learn more about the villages and find a community near you.

Fallen Oak Distillery
Congratulations to the owners of Lone Oak Brewery in Olney for expanding their business and opening Fallen Oak Distilling! A long-time dream of the brewery's owners, the Millers and the Mollets, Fallen Oak Distilling is located on the beautiful Lone Oak Farm and offers high-quality spirits, scenic views, and another locally-owned business to visit. Cheers!

Guru Gobind Singh Foundation
My deep appreciation to the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation (GGSF) and Sikh Spiritual Center for inviting me to help prepare meals and groceries for neighbors in need.
In addition to housing a Gurdwara, or Sikh house of worship, GGSF works to build awareness and understanding of Sikh culture in the community, conducts classes and workshops, and provides fresh meals, clothing and school supplies to residents in need.

Make Housing More Affordable
It costs too much to build new housing. That’s why I recently introduced legislation to reduce the cost of housing by changing the time at which impact taxes are paid — which help build roads and schools — from the beginning of a project to the end.
This simple change will reduce the overall cost of housing projects by hundreds of thousands of dollars without reducing the capital budget for new school facilities and transportation projects. It’s a common sense win-win.
If we want more housing that is affordable, we need to make it more affordable to build housing.

Metropolitan Washington Ear
Metropolitan Washington Ear is a regional organization that provides free listener services and independent skills training for blind, visually impaired and physically disabled people who cannot effectively read print, watch television programs or view museum exhibits.
I recently visited their Silver Spring radio studio to thank them for their vital services and to read a public service announcement for their listeners in Montgomery County and the DMV. I was thoroughly impressed with the work they do to make the news more accessible to everyone in the community.

Constituent Corner
A Germantown resident wrote to my office requesting a stop sign. Drivers had not been stopping even for oncoming traffic and this clearly posed a grave danger. My team alerted MCDOT who studied the intersection and installed the necessary sign. The resident recently wrote to me to express her appreciation for everyone’s efforts in making her neighborhood a safer place.
