The opening of the East County Education Center of Montgomery College and the increasing support for the University of Maryland’s Institute for Health Computing in North Bethesda have County Executive Marc Elrich enthused as higher education opportunities are expanding for students and providing a better talent pool for County employers. He also talks about moves that will ease congestion this summer when five stations along Metro’s Red Line are temporarily closed for renovations that will impact the future Purple Line. And as Earth Month continues, he encourages residents of all ages to attend the annual Greenfest celebration of the environment on Saturday, April 27, in Germantown.

All nine MCG golf courses in Montgomery County have now achieved "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" status through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), placing them among an exclusive group of only 750 golf courses worldwide. The most recent courses to be certified were Falls Road in Potomac, Hampshire Greens in Ashton, Rattlewood in Mount Airy and Sligo Creek in Silver Spring.

Adult Bike and E-Scooter Classes to be Offered in April, May and June

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will be offering low-cost adult bike classes in May and June. The classes will include Learn to Ride and Basic Skills classes. MCDOT also will offer three free, walk-up electric scooter classes following select bike classes.
