RespectFest
I was honored to attend RespectFest with some of my colleagues. It was a beautiful day for the community to come together to promote healthy, respectful relationships. It's extremely important to educate youth about consent, dating violence, warning signs, how to help a friend, and what resources exist to help them.
Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce Upcounty Business Briefing
I appreciate the work that the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce does to support its members, whose businesses are so important to our local economy and communities. We cannot meet our needs unless businesses are thriving and our economy is growing. We joined a number of these businesses to discuss our priorities for economic development.
African American Health Program Community Day
Thank you to the African American Health Program for hosting its 10th annual Community Day, an opportunity to come together and learn about the wide-ranging and important health and wellness testing, trainings, and resources that this important program provides. Thank you also to the many volunteers who made Community Day possible and who consistently give themselves in service to others.
Children’s Opportunity Alliance Event
It was a pleasure to join the Children’s Opportunity Alliance to discuss the economic imperative to expand early childhood education - and a number of ways we're supporting early childhood education. I know firsthand the challenge of finding affordable childcare and spoke about available County resources and rightsizing State standards to remove hurdles for providers.

April 22 is Earth Day
Earth Day was started in 1970 to promote collective action toward sustainability. Fifty-four years later, it's more important than ever because of the impacts of climate change. Act Now is Montgomery County’s 2024 Earth Month theme, and the good news is there are steps each of us can take right now to be more sustainable and do our part to fight climate change. Learn more at the Department of Environmental Protection’s many events, including the annual GreenFest on April 27.
