Fall Program Registration Begins Monday, Aug. 14
Montgomery County Recreation’s fall program registration will open at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, for County residents for most programs and activities! Registration for Bone Builders, Day Trippers and Senior Outdoor Adventures in Recreation (SOAR) will begin at 9 a.m.
Non-County residents will be able to register for Recreation’s programs beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Programs will be viewable online Friday, Aug. 4. Residents can once again build their own Guide and a digital guide will also be available. While online registration is encouraged, registration will also be available by mail, drop-off or in-person.

Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Tours Holiday Park Senior Center
In July, Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Carmel Roques made a special visit to Holiday Park Senior Center where she got to participate in the Center’s social events and a Bone Builders demonstration.
Sec. Roques also participated in the senior lunch program and checked out the outdoor fitness equipment, which won the ‘Best in Category’ award in the Parks and Recreation category in the 2023 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards.
Thank you to Secretary Roques for spending time at Holiday Park with our County staff and seniors!
County Residents Taking Advantage of Free RecFit Pass
Looking to get in shape? Get your FREE RecFit pass! The fitness pass is free for all Montgomery County residents through 2024.
We recently spoke with several County workout warriors who have utilized the free RecFit pass this year. Hear from them and learn about their experience visiting our facilities by watching the videos on YouTube.
To get your pass, residents must register in-person at any Montgomery County Community Recreation Center. Proof of residency (a valid photo ID with an address or a photo ID with a current utility bill) must be provided by County residents to receive the free pass.
Non-County residents can purchase a pass at a price of $20 for one month, $80 for six months and $150 for one year. Visit the website for more information.
Release the Hounds! Pooch Pool Party Returns Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27
Get ready for a paw-some time at our annual summer Pooch Pool Party Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Upper County Outdoor Pool in Gaithersburg.
Bring your furry friend for some fun in the water! Pre-registration as well as written proof of current rabies vaccination is required for admission.
Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center Update
Our team is working hard as we prepare to open the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center (SSRAC). Visit our website to view a presentation of the new facility and complete the programming survey. The facility is scheduled to open in late 2023.

Rec Express’ Track and Field Team Races Past Competition
Montgomery County Recreation’s Express Track and Field team competed at the Mid-Atlantic Recreation Park Sports Alliance (MARPSA) Track and Field Meet, held at Quince Orchard High School. The 15 team members competed in a combined total of 41 events!
The events included the 100-meter dash, 1600-meter race, standing long jump, shot put, javelin and more. Four of our athletes won their individual events and nine finished their respective events in the top-three.
Leading up to this culminating event, 27 participants were a part of Montgomery County Recreation’s Spring Track and Field program. Congratulations to all of our Rec Express athletes!
