Montgomery County Public Schools Medical Director Patricia Kapunan, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) School Health Services Administrator Mark Hodge and Sherwood High School Principal Timothy Britton, will recognize rising senior Conor Pugh for his efforts to produce and distribute “diabetes kits” for students recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The ceremony will be in the media center at Sherwood High School, which is located at 300 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd. in Sandy Spring.

Pugh, a life scout with Scouts of America Troop 262, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2020 and has packaged tools such as an insulin cooler, medical ID bracelet, a disposal container for storing used needles and educational materials to help other students adjust to a diabetes diagnosis.  The kits are distributed through DHHS’ school health nurses.
