Much to be thankful for this holiday season

Dear Friends,

The holiday season is here. It's a great time to slow down, reflect on the year that was, and recharge for the year ahead. I'm grateful for my family, to live in this incredible community we share together, and for the honor to represent you on the County Council.

Here's just a little of what we've been working on since I took office December 5, with more to come in 2023:

Councilmember Luedtke and husband Eric at Winter City Lights

• Identifying gaps and best practices to improve the County's behavioral health crisis response
• Advancing design work for a new Olney Police Satellite Station and community meeting space
• Creating a regular public forum for community members around Montgomery County Airpark to share concerns and work with facility operators to increase safety and mitigate noise
• Addressing important constituent matters including tree stump removal, enhanced pedestrian and bicyclist access to a local park, and much-needed new sidewalks and trails along busy State roadways

Interfaith Works

Councilmember Luedtke tours the Interfaith Works Essential Needs Center

Interfaith Works is an incredible local nonprofit that's doing important work across the spectrum - emergency shelter space, permanent supportive housing, and their Essential Needs Center. Last week, I was fortunate to tour the Center, where they're providing many in our community with clothes, healthy food, and helping people access emergency rental and utility assistance, behavioral health services, and more.

MCPS Winter Break

December 23, 2022 through January 2, 2023

Deadline for applications to the Montgomery County Planning Board

January 13, 2023 - 5 p.m. The Council is seeking applicants to serve on the Planning Board. Commissioners are responsible for advising the Council on land use and community planning, amending master plans, overseeing Montgomery Parks, and more.

Inauguration of Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller

January 18, 2023 - Noon. At the State Capitol in Annapolis. Free and open to the public.

Shady Grove Sector Plan Implementation Advisory Committee

February 1, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. Regular community-led meeting focused on redevelopment and infrastructure projects around the Shady Grove Metro Station and Derwood.
