As the celebration of Thanksgiving approaches for many, County Executive Marc Elrich asks that everyone keep in their thoughts some of those who will have a much more difficult time. This includes the families who lost their homes after the fire and building collapse last week in Gaithersburg. He addresses the final report of an independent audit of the County Police Department that will lead to better training and improved situational awareness in certain situations for officers. The County Executive also salutes six remarkable people who earlier this week were inducted into the County Human Rights Hall of Fame.

‘Garden of Lights’ at Brookside Gardens Now Open

The “Garden of Lights” display, which annually transforms Brookside Gardens in Wheaton into a magical winter wonderland, is now open for the 2022 winter season. The exhibit will be open from 5:30-9:30 p.m. every night through Jan. 1, except Nov. 23-24 and Dec. 24-25.

The free event, which will honor “Unsung Heroes” of Health Equity in the County, is co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
