 Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich provides an update on what the County is doing to stop the spread of COVID-19, including how Montgomery County Public Schools is addressing the virus now that all students are back in classrooms. He provides details on the upcoming East County Regional Job Fair and talks about the need for eligible homeowners to meet the Oct. 1 deadline to apply for the State’s Homeowners Property Tax Credit. He also expresses his disappointment with the County Planning Board vote that will allow increased development around Ten Mile Creek in Clarksburg.
 Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be joined by County Council President Tom Hucker, Rockville Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton, other elected officials and community members at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, in Downtown Rockville for a Sept. 11 community remembrance.
 Montgomery County’s COVID-19 Information Portal provides a variety of breakdowns on how the virus has impacted the County. The statistics are updated to reflect the most recent reports from the State of Maryland during the health crisis. Among the information available is how many positive cases have been reported in each zip code in the County.
 The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will fully activate new ramp meters on 23 ramps to southbound I-270 in Montgomery and Frederick counties on Wednesday, Sept. 15, weather permitting. The state agency said ramp metering is a part of the I-270 Innovative Congestion Management (ICM) project to help improve safety, reduce congestion and save drivers up to 30 minutes on morning commutes between Frederick and I-495 (Capital Beltway).
Montgomery County is continuing to work with its nonprofit partners to assist residents who were displaced from their residences due to flooding caused by the heavy rains that hit the area on Sept. 1.
 Montgomery County held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 9, for a future Integrated Microgrid and Charging Infrastructure Project at the Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot. The project is being completed in partnership with AlphaStruxure, a leader in Energy as a Service (EaaS) solutions. The first of its kind project supports the sustainability and climate resilience goals of the County.
 A celebration at the newly completed Josiah Henson Museum and Park in North Bethesda will be held from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12. Montgomery Parks will host the free celebration that will feature family-friendly events, period re-enactments and musical performances. The event will be part of the recognition of International Underground Railroad Month.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will join the County’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), other elected officials, One Montgomery Green (OMG) and community members at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, in Downtown Wheaton to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of a RainScapes Conservation Landscape. The event will feature a community clean up and ribbon cutting at the site’s new location at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

 A formal dedication was held on Sept. 8 to celebrate the $25.5 million renovation of Montgomery County’s Grey Courthouse Office Building located at 27 Courthouse Square in Rockville. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich was joined in the ceremonies by Montgomery County Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz, Department of General Services Director David Dise and other County officials.
“Businesses and Disaster Preparedness” will be the theme from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, when Montgomery County’s COVID-19 Economic Revitalization and Recovery program continues its series of virtual town hall meetings to keep businesses informed on strategies for doing business as the health crisis continues.
The Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival returns to the streets of Wheaton on Sunday, Sept. 19. For the first time, the festivities will take place in the new Marian Fryer Town Plaza that is part of the Wheaton Revitalization Project on Reedie Drive in Downtown Wheaton.
 Native plants and pollinators will be among the highlights of the September nature programs at parks across Montgomery County offered by Montgomery Parks, which is part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
 Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will launch a new online library catalog, Aspen Discovery, on Monday, Oct. 4. MCPL’s online catalog is the tool customers use to explore the collection and find materials they want and need.
 Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is updating its Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan that guides the future development and management of the park system. The department is asking residents to take a brief survey about how their lives are, or could be, powered by parks.
Free online workshops and one-on-one sessions geared toward assisting job seekers and entrepreneurs will be offered throughout September in programs sponsored by Montgomery County Public Libraries.
