County Executive Marc Elrich says that the County can take pride in knowing that it is leading the nation among U.S. counties with populations of more than 300,000 in getting residents 12-and-over vaccinated against COVID19. However, he also says there is a need to have more unvaccinated residents get their shots. The progress being made is allowing services like libraries and liquor stores to resume normal operations. He is looking ahead to the County’s economic recovery and wants everyone to know the fight against the virus includes operations like Novavax, which will have a new headquarters in Gaithersburg, and the County’s other bio tech companies.

A survey seeking public input on Montgomery County’s Draft Vision Zero 2030 Action Plan and Fiscal Years 2022-23 Work Plan will close on Monday, June 21. The survey has been open since April when County Executive Marc Elrich released the draft of the plan. It builds on the County’s previous Vision Zero and Pedestrian Safety plans and lays out the work ahead to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.

Ride On Flex, a unique on-demand transit service that was piloted in 2019 into early 2020, but has been suspended due to the COVID-19 health crisis, will be returned to operation by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) on Monday, July 19. Flex operates in defined zones in Rockville and Glenmont/Wheaton.
