Dear Friends,

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

This holiday season brings greatly welcome news: The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine in Montgomery County was delivered and administered on Dec. 23. The vaccine is a symbol of hope for us all; but though there is a light at the end of this terrible tunnel, we are not out yet. It will be an unknown number of months before the vaccine is widely available. We must remain vigilant and steadfast in our devotion to safety; and while I hope that you are able to celebrate the holidays in new, safe ways, it is imperative that you also protect your health and those around you.

Everyone should have one main goal for this year’s holiday season: keeping friends and family safe. I want to again thank each of you – the residents of Montgomery County – who have been willing to follow the guidelines to try to stop the spread. I also want to thank all of you who have given your precious time, energy, and other resources to help those who are struggling. You embody the holiday spirit and the spirit of Montgomery County; and I am grateful for the example you set.

Please continue to wear your masks, maintain a minimum six-foot physical distance, wash your hands throughout the day, and get tested regularly. And remember, celebrating virtually this year may make it possible to celebrate together in-person next year. Thank you.

Warmly,

Marc Elrich
