As you know, the voting is over and ballot counting continues in Maryland and elsewhere around the country.  A record number of people in Montgomery County voted by mail and we greatly appreciate the many people who did so. It made early voting and election day voting go smoothly, even with the drastically reduced number of Election Day voting sites. Thank you to everyone who voted, volunteered and worked in this historic election.

Montgomery County’s Commission on Veterans Affairs Seeking Additions to Its Virtual Tribute to County Veterans

Montgomery County’s Commission on Veterans Affairs is paying tribute to County veterans through a virtual “Tribute to Montgomery County Veterans” website. As Veterans Day approaches on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the commission wants to add tributes to the site.

The website is open to all residents who have served in military service.

County Will Hold 56 Free COVID-19 Test Clinics on Upcoming Schedule

Montgomery County’s COVID-19 testing program will include 56 free County-operated clinics over the next nine days. Those clinics will be in addition to more than 45 private providers who are continuing to operate testing clinics.

Residents Urged to Get a Flu Shot; Free County-operated Clinics for Those 18-and-Under to be Held on Nov. 7 and Nov. 21

Montgomery County health officials are urging all residents to get a flu vaccination, with two upcoming County-operated clinics providing shots specifically for children ages 6 months to 18. Those clinics will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Dennis Avenue Health Center in Silver Spring.

Phishing, Smishing and Vishing are just some of the new words entering our daily world. The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) wants residents to know that these terms are not part of a catchy new children’s book. They are the names given to serious efforts by scammers trying to trick people into turning over money or account information. The efforts are even more numerous during the holidays when consumers receive increased messages and calls from all types of legitimate companies and organizations—making it even easier for criminals to horn their way into their pocketbooks.

Montgomery County Leaf Vacuum Collection Begins Nov. 9 and Continues Through Mid-December With Improved System to Check Schedule Online

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will begin its annual leaf vacuuming starting the week beginning Monday, Nov. 9, with two collections taking place on each leaf collection district street. This year, residents can more easily find the collection schedule online by simply entering a street address. The leaf vacuum collection district is bounded by I-495; I-270; the Rockville City limits; Norbeck, Bel Pre and Bonifant roads; Northwest Branch Park; and the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County lines.
