Montgomery County Short-Term COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program Applications Will be Accepted Monday, June 1 through 2:00 pm Friday, June 5 The COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program will provide partial rent support to some low-income County households experiencing lost income due to the COVID-19 health crisis. Approved households may receive a maximum of $500 per month for three months, paid to their landlord. Households must demonstrate the ability to maintain rent obligations using the rental assistance plus existing resources. An application for unemployment insurance is also required, if eligible.

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) will accept applications and supporting documents from 10:00 am on Monday, June 1 until 2:00 pm, Friday, June 5. Applications will be reviewed using a random selection method from the final pool of applications received by the deadline.

To guide residents in gathering information needed to apply, the website includes details about eligibility and required documents. After the application process opens on June 1, applicants are encouraged to submit their application online at www.hocmc.org/extra/878/-covid-rental-assistance-program.html.

Montgomery County Virtual Senior Town Hall hosted by Senior Planet Montgomery Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Please register by June 2)

Senior Planet Montgomery is hosting a Virtual Senior Town Hall over Zoom, featuring County Executive Marc Elrich and Council President Sidney Katz. Participants can join by phone or computer. Please register in advance for this meeting by Tuesday, June 2nd:

Senior Connection Provides Grocery Shopping and Medical Rides  Senior Connection connects volunteers with residents who need help getting groceries. The volunteer picks up a list and money, completes the shopping (or goes to a food pantry), and then returns the groceries to the resident's door.  

Senior Connection provides transportation only to critical medical appointments during COVID 19. These may include trips for dialysis, radiation, chemotherapy, substance use disorder, or counseling. The volunteers will not enter into the resident's home or building, nor will they enter medical buildings. 

Call 301-962-0820 and leave a message to request transportation, grocery shopping assistance, pickups from Manna and other food pantries, prescription pickups, or other critical needs. Calls are returned as soon as possible.

Virtual Wellness Group for Older Adults
Wednesdays at 1:00 pm

The ElderSAFE Center hosts this group. Its goal is to decrease social isolation and loneliness for older adults during this time of social distancing. Attendees can share how they have been, what they have been struggling with, and any concerns they have. Discussion topics include mental health, staying active, financial scams, and community updates. No registration or sign-up is necessary.
