Montgomery County Public Libraries to Host Lunar New Year Celebrations

Montgomery County Public Libraries will host the following free programs to celebrate the Lunar New Year. 

  • Chinese New Year Celebration: Lion Dance!
    Celebrate the year of the rat with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance. Presented by   East Rising Lion Dance Troupe. 5th floor, no registration required.
    Saturday, Jan 11: 11 to 11:20 a.m.
    Silver Spring Library, 900 Wayne Ave.
  • A Chinese New Year Storytime
    Celebrate with stories and songs in Chinese and English. Each child will receive a red envelope with a Chinese coin.
    Saturday, Jan. 11: 4 to 4:45 p.m.

  • Lunar New Year Celebration: Lion Dance!
    Celebrate the year of the rat with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance! Presented by   East Rising Lion Dance Troupe.

  • Lunar New Year Celebration
    Celebrate the Lunar New Year with a wide range of fun festivities: Arts and Crafts, Chinese Folk Dancing and Singing. We would love to have you and your family join us for a wonderful day! FREE!

  • Chinese New Year Lion Dance
    Join us to celebrate Chinese New Year with a Lion Dance performance by the Chinese Youth Club of Washington, DC.
    Saturday, Jan. 25: 11 a.m. to noon
    Connie Morella Library, 7400 Arlington Road, Bethesda
  • Chinese New Year Celebration
    Celebrate the New Year with a performance by the Li-Ming Chinese Academy featuring the Lion Dance. The event will be held on the second floor of the      Library/Community Recreation Center.
    Saturday, Jan. 25: 2 to 3:30 p.m.

  • Chinese New Year: The Year of the Rat: Musical Celebration
    Chinese pianist Li-Ly Chang with friends will perform music from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canton, Macau and more! Free, all ages are welcome! A reception will follow with Asian goodies and treats.
    Saturday, Jan. 25: 3 to 4:30 p.m.

  • Chinese New Year Lion Dance
    Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Lion Dance performance by the Chinese Youth Club of Washington DC.

  • Lunar New Year
    Celebrate all things dragon with three dragon crafts, music and lots of fun.
    Monday, Jan. 27: 4 to 5 p.m.

  • Lunar New Year Celebration
    Celebrate the Lunar New Year with a dragon dance lion dance shadow puppet show zither Chinese Wu-Shu and Chinese Yo-Yo.

  • Chinese New Year Celebration
    Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a wonderful presentation by the Kuang Chi Chinese School! Enjoy special performances like the Chinese folk dance.

  • Chinese New Year Celebration!
    Join us for a Lion Dance, stories and crafts in observance of Chinese New Year. A program for families presented by Kuang Chi Chinese School and funded by the Friends of the Library Davis Branch
