50+: Vital Living Through Volunteering - A Special Program Designed to Help County Residents Over 50 Find Their Best Volunteer Fit - To Be Held at Additional Locations

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 15, 2019

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center and its 50+ Volunteer Network, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL), Montgomery County Vital Living Network, and Senior Corps Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), will hold two more free programs at County libraries to help attendees find their best volunteer fit. The first three presentations held at the Gaithersburg, Bethesda, and Twinbrook Libraries received incredibly positive feedback.

The next 50+: Vital Living Through Volunteering events will be held at two separate venues:

  • Thursday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Silver Spring Library at 900 Wayne Ave in Silver Spring
  • Thursday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at White Oak Library at 11701 New Hampshire Ave in Silver Spring

The program will feature Deborah Missal and Gretchen Zekiel, Senior Fellows/Program Managers, 50+ Volunteer Network.  Topics will include:

  • The Montgomery County Volunteer Center's rich resources for exploring volunteer opportunities
  • The 50+ Volunteer Network that offers personal consultations and guidance in finding an opportunity that is the right fit
  • Real examples of how volunteers and nonprofits have connected to make a great match

No registration is required. Attendees will also receive the 50+ Vital Living Networker containing resource information about living well as you age in Montgomery County.

Questions should be emailed to, 50plus@montgomerycountymd.gov.
