Immigrants’ civil rights are focus of
“En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado,”
Friday, August 9 at 2 p.m. on Radio America 

ROCKVILLE, Md., August 8, 2019—Sergio España, director of engagement and mobilization for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) de Maryland; Viviana Azar, therapist with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Joseph Malouf, constitutional attorney; Eliseo Magos, community organizer with CASA de Maryland; and Sofia Reyes, president of the Flower Branch Tenants’ Association, will be the featured guests on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), this Friday, August 9 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). In the first segment of the program, guests will discuss the civil rights of immigrants, in light of increased raids and deportation activity by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They also will provide listeners with information about resources available and strategies for coping with heightened anxiety and instability due to anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies from the Trump administration.

In the program’s second segment, Eliseo Magos and Sofia Reyes will discuss the upcoming vigil to commemorate the fatal gas explosion which occurred at the Flower Branch apartments in Silver Spring in 2016.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.

ROCKVILLE, Maryland, 8 de agosto de 2019—Sergio España, director de compromiso y movilización para la Unión Americana de Libertades Civiles (ACLU) de Maryland; Viviana Azar, terapeuta con el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos (DHHS) del Condado de Montgomery; Joseph Malouf, abogado constitucional; Eliseo Magos, organizador comunitario de la organización CASA de Maryland y Sofía Reyes, presidenta de la Asociación de Vecinos de Flower Branch, serán los invitados de En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery, que se transmitirá este viernes, 9 de agosto a las 2 p.m. en Radio América (WILC 900AM).
