to draw attention to more than two dozen local restaurants

ROCKVILLE, Md., August 29, 2018—More than 30 restaurants in Silver Spring and Takoma Park have joined culinary forces for the fourth annual Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week, which runs from Tuesday, Sept. 4, through Sunday, Sept. 9. Participating restaurants will offer special multicourse lunch and dinner fixed-price menus to encourage residents from around the County to discover some of the area’s best dining.

Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker, who represents Council District 5, which includes Silver Spring and Takoma Park, initiated this effort in 2015 to have local restaurants unite for the special week. The Silver Spring and Takoma Park downtowns continue to evolve into two of the County’s most vibrant areas. Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week has become a tradition for the business districts, which have many unique eateries, but no formal restaurant associations.

During Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week, participating restaurants will offer two- and three-course lunches for $12 and $17, respectively. Two- and three-course dinners will cost $17 and $27.

“Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week is a six-day culinary celebration highlighting the variety of dining options in the area,” said Councilmember Hucker. “The participating restaurants embody the diversity of our community and offer cuisines from America and around the world, including Mexico, Ethiopia, China, Korea, Cuba and the Middle East. The affordable prices provide a great incentive to come to Silver Spring and Takoma Park for the first time or for regular diners to try something new.”

The success of the past three years has inspired established Silver Spring and Takoma Park restaurants, plus several newcomers, to join this year.

For Joanne Liu, owner of both Scion and NaiNai’s Noodle & Dumpling Bar in downtown Silver Spring, participating in Restaurant Week is a no-brainer.

“Why wouldn’t I participate?” Liu asked. Restaurant Week is “about the neighborhood and I want to support it.

“It’s important to do it for the community and it’s a good time to debut new menu items,” she said.

“There are great community activities going on during Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week, including the Silver Spring Jazz Festival on Sept. 8,” said Councilmember Hucker. “I encourage residents throughout the Washington metropolitan area to come out and dine on fantastic food, listen to great music and enjoy everything Silver Spring and Takoma Park have to offer.”

So far, the restaurants that have committed to participate in restaurant week include the following and are in Silver Spring unless otherwise noted:
