News You Can Use
Medical Waste Disposal ☣️
Medical waste items are a dangerous and problematic material that contaminate recycling. They also pose risks to the safety of recycling employees. DO NOT put plastic IV bags, respirator/medical tubing, CPAP masks or syringes and sharps into your blue recycling bin. Learn how to properly dispose of syringes and sharps.
Leaves, leaves, and more leaves! 🍂
It's all about leaves. Leaves are an important source of carbon for compost bins. Use leaves in your compost bin along with yard trimmings for your autumn lawn care. Pick up your compost bin at no additional cost at a location near you.
If you don't compost, please bag your leaves and yard trimmings properly in paper yard waste bags or containers labeled with a yard trim decal for County-provided curbside collection.
Another, more limited, option is to set aside leaves for the Vacuum Leaf Collection Program provided by Highway Services. Visit their website to see if your neighborhood is part of the program.
It's raining rebates! 🌦️
The RainScapes Program has dramatically increased the size of its rebates to $7,500 per residential property, and $20,000 for commercial properties, HOAs, congregations and nonprofit organizations. Start planning your new landscape today!
County Council Seeks Climate Change Programs from Nonprofit Partners 🌎
