Annual Skilled Nursing Facility Healthcare Worker Influenza Vaccination & Infection Prevention Reporting in NHSN



The reporting of this information is mandatory for both federal and state reporting compliance. The Maryland Health Care Commission will share the information with the Maryland Office of Long Term Services and Supports for use in the Nursing Home Pay for Performance program. Vaccination data is also posted on the Maryland Quality Reporting website and the Commission website. 

Data can be entered beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2025. 

The Due Date for Reporting in NHSN is May 15, 2025.

HCP Flu Reporting Procedures 

Facilities will enter their flu data under two separate tabs in NHSN. 

1. Enter the Healthcare Worker Influenza Vaccination

Log into NHSN under the Healthcare Personnel Safety Component. 

On the landing page, you will enter the HCW flu vaccination information under the Vaccination Summary button, located on the blue menu on the left hand side of the screen. 

Select:

  • Annual Vaccination Flu Summary
  • Add
  • Continue

On the next screen, select from the drop down buttons:

  • Vaccination Type: Influenza
  • Influenza Subtype: Seasonal
  • Flu Season: 2024/2025

The next screen will be where you enter the number of employees, volunteers, etc. and the vaccination status.

Complete this information, scroll to bottom of screen and SAVE

2. Enter the Vaccination Program and Policy

Now you will go back to the NHSN landing page to enter your facility vaccination program policy information. Select the Survey button from the blue menu on the left hand side of the screen. 

Select: 

  • Flu
  • Add 
  • Continue
  • 2024/2025 season

This will bring you to the questionaire to answer questions about your vaccination program and policies.  Make sure to SAVE
