The Sustainable Growth Webinar Series: Celebrating Seven Years of Success
Did you know the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) hosts a Sustainable Growth webinar series – the most viewed in the of its kind in the U.S. – in partnership with Smart Growth America? The series is designed to educate and inform citizen and professional planners and the general public about sustainable growth (formerly known as “smart” growth) principles and development goals that have guided planning in Maryland for more than 25 years. MDP has engaged and educated approximately 97,000 attendees on smart and sustainable growth topics from affordable housing to zoning since its launch seven years ago.

MDP Announces Updated and New Mapping Tools
If planners had to name one type of tool they depend upon most, maps would undoubtedly be at the top of the list. For this reason, the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) has dedicated staff who develop a wide variety of map-based tools and resources to help inform planning efforts throughout the state.
This month we are pleased to share with you the Department’s latest web-based mapping tools – the updated Priority Funding Area (PFA) Map Viewer and the newly developed Intergovernmental Monitor Proposed Project Locator. In addition to updated data, users will see improved performance as well as improved accessibility and language translation.
