Lower Eastern Shore's Critical Area Circuit Rider Internship Program

Update: Now Celebrating 13 Years!

The Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) engages students enrolled in master’s and bachelor’s degree planning programs throughout the state in a variety of capacities, both to support their educational experience and to foster the next generation of Maryland planners. Internship opportunities enable emerging planners to participate in project peer reviews, workshops, competitions, and professional conferences. Students learn what professional and citizen planners do and gain access to professional networks of experienced planners from across the state.  Read Full Article

This one-day summit will have multiple sessions with expert panelists covering the following topics:  Urban and Rural Placemaking  Transportation  Climate  Natural Resources  Housing  Social and Economic Development   The event will include speakers and panels featuring state and national representatives. Lunch will be served during a legislative panel discussion highlighting key issues before the 2024 Maryland General Assembly. MyCoast Data Shows Impact of January Flooding

Community reports in MyCoast app reveal extent of flooding across state

On January 9, 2024, Maryland was hit by a storm that brought intense rain, strong winds, and high tides. It resulted in the most active week yet for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ MyCoast MD app. The app allows users to submit reports and photos of flooding, as well as other environmental information. The storm brought in about 400 new users for MyCoast, along with 248 reports of flooding.  Read Full Article
