Maryland Attorney General Publishes 10th Edition of Open Meetings Act Manual
One of the most popular sessions at every Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) Conference is the Open Meetings Act (OMA) Training. The Maryland Attorney General's Office website describes the OMA as requiring "many State and local public bodies to hold their meetings in public, to give the public adequate notice of those meetings, and to allow the public to inspect meetings minutes."
OMA applies to all Planning Commissions and Boards of Zoning Appeals in Maryland, and the Attorney General recently published the 10th edition of its OMA Manual. The MPCA, a statewide organization dedicated to the education and support of Maryland's Citizen Planners, strives to provide current and helpful resources to inform about this vital work. Please visit the 37th annual MPCA conference webpage to watch the November 2020 OMA session and download the presentation.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved in the MPCA, please contact Joe Griffiths, Local Assistance and Training Manager for the Maryland Department of Planning, at joseph.griffiths@maryland.gov
