Be an advocate for truth
We hear lots of reasons why people won’t take the Census but many of them are based on misinformation.
We need advocates like you to spread the truth.
Reason #1: I can’t take the Census because I’m not a citizen.
Incorrect!
You do not need to be a citizen to be counted. The goal of the Census is to count every person living in the US. There is no immigration status question on the Census.
Reason #2: My responses don’t matter. Nothing will change anyway.
Not true.
Your response data will contribute to critical decisions over the next decade, like whether or not your community needs new schools, new clinics, new roads and more services for families, older adults and kids.
Reason #3: If I respond, my information could be used against me.
Never.
The law prohibits the Census Bureau from sharing information with law enforcement or immigration enforcement agencies. Your answers cannot be used to impact your eligibility for government benefits either.
Forward this email to friends and family who you think need this information and ensure they take the Census!
Watch out for scams! The Official Census is free and won’t ask for your social security number or immigration status.
