Farmers who aerial seed cover crops into standing corn by September 10 qualify for a $10/acre incentive payment. Early planting incentives are also available for incorporated seed. SOIL PHOSPHORUS TEST RESULTS DUE Maryland's Phosphorus Management Tool regulations require certified nutrient management consultants and farmers who prepare their own nutrient management plans to report soil phosphorus test results for all fields that they manage by September 30, 2021. USDA is now accepting applications for cost-share grants to help growers and producers cover the costs of organic certification. Applications for the Organic Certification Cost-Share Program are due November 1, 2021.
Former nutrient management intern Kendra Keeney has joined the Nutrient Management Program as an administrative specialist. Kendra will be responsible for agricultural licenses and certifications as well as soil data information. She will also assist with the program's student internship program.
