THE MARYLAND EQUITY & INCLUSION LEADERSHIP PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 PROGRAM

Program Aims to Make Organizations More Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive for All

The Maryland Equity & Inclusion Leadership Program (MEILP) is now accepting applications for the 2019 program, after a highly successful program launch in 2017. For more information and to submit your application, please visit http://meilp.ubalt.edu. Interested candidates can take advantage of the August 20, 2018 early application deadline. All final applications are due by September 17, 2018.

About the Program

A partnership of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights (MCCR) and the University of Baltimore Schaefer Center for Public Policy, MEILP aims to develop, engage, and support current and emerging leaders from private, public, and nonprofit sectors who are interested and committed to helping their organizations become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive at various levels. This program is ideal for developing and experienced professionals who want to design, lead, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within their respective organizations.

For those considering applying, one graduate from last year’s inaugural class summed up their experience as: "I’ve always been an advocate of diversity, equity and inclusion. To actually go through formal education on it has really opened my eyes to things I did not even know about before. The networking has been fabulous, the education has been top notch, and I’m looking forward to taking all of this back to my agency and being a diversity, equity and inclusion advocate going forward, in an upward hill battle."

Program participants will learn from and network with DEI industry experts, experienced practitioners, scholar-researchers, and their peers to gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of various DEI issues facing individuals, groups, organizations, and whole communities, including best practices and evidence-based strategies for addressing these issues.
