2018 marks two important milestones for fair housing - the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, as well as over 90 years of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights (MCCR) serving our great state!
On Saturday, April 28, 2018, more than 400 will gather in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Additionally, we will recognize the pivotal role MCCR has played in establishing and enforcing anti-discrimination laws in the State of Maryland, while advancing equity, opportunity, and inclusion for all people for 90 years. Those in attendance will represent all walks of life, from professionals across a number of different industries and services, to non-profit anti-discrimination advocates, to private individuals and leaders passionate about the advancement and promotion of civil and human rights.

CNN Contributor, former State Legislator for South Carolina, and attorney Bakari Sellers will serve as our keynote speaker to electrify the night's program!
Bakari Sellers is a rising leader passionate about education, civil rights, and equality. He made history in 2006 when, at 22 years old, he defeated a 26-year incumbent State Representative, becoming the youngest member of the South Carolina state legislature and the youngest African American elected official in the nation. In 2014 he was the Democratic Nominee for Lt. Governor in the state of South Carolina.
