Theme: "Color Our World"
Why “Color Our World”? The 2025 theme, “Color Our World,” encourages libraries to embrace the beauty of art in all its forms, creating a colorful tapestry of experiences for everyone.
This summer, we encourage you to express yourself through art, images, movement, music, and performance. It’s time to “Color Our World”!

Participate, Read, and Do to Create Summer Reading Art! LBPD Summer Reading Dates: June 21st - August 15th
How the Youth Program Works:
Upon registering for summer reading, youth will receive a summer reading art starter pack (while supplies last) that contains a Wikki Stix Neon Pack, tactile objects, and a canvas board.
Throughout the summer, create tactile art by adding earned objects or images to your canvas board, or create a free-standing work of art based on the criteria below. You can use objects from your art starter pack or any art supplies you have at home. Be creative, and let your imagination run wild!
Ways to Earn Objects:
-
Summer Events/Programs (NLS, LBPD, or Local Public Library): Add 5 objects for each event or program you attend.
-
LBPD Summer Reading List: Add 3 objects for every book you read from the list.
-
Daily Reading/Any Book: Add 2 objects for each day you read or for any book you finish.
-
Braille/Audio Book Requests (MD LBPD): Add 1 object for each braille or audio book you request.

- Be sure to secure it safely for handling in the mail.

- Your art will be displayed in our Patron Area with your first name and the title of your piece.
