CASH Campaign
The Maryland State Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (LBPD), in proud partnership with the CASH Campaign of Maryland, invites you to attend a special series of free virtual financial education classes this May. These workshops are designed to empower individuals and families with practical knowledge on saving for higher education, managing and reducing debt, and protecting your hard-earned money from fraud and scams.
Each session is taught live via Zoom by Christina Figueroa, Senior Program Associate for Financial Capability at the CASH Campaign, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting economic advancement for low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Maryland. Your Financial Future: Saving for College
Thursday, May 15, 2025 | 6–7 PM (ET) Navigating the cost of higher education can be overwhelming. This session will explore financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs. Participants will also learn how to plan for non-traditional expenses such as transportation, food, housing, and supplies, whether pursuing a college degree, trade school certification, or vocational training. Gain insight into how and when to apply for aid, and leave with a plan to make your education more affordable. Register here.
Conquering Debt
Thursday, May 22, 2025 | 6–7 PM (ET) Debt can feel like a heavy burden, but you don’t have to face it alone. This session will equip you with realistic strategies to reduce and manage debt, including the snowball and avalanche repayment methods. You’ll learn how to prioritize payments, understand the impact of interest, and get familiar with your rights when communicating with debt collectors. The CASH Campaign team will also share trusted local resources and provide guidance on when to seek help from professionals. Whether you're facing credit card debt, medical bills, or student loans, you’ll leave with tools to regain control. Register here.
