“This book made me realize that nobody is a “failed project.” Barnabus lives in a laboratory where they make Perfect Pets, but Barnabus isn’t perfect. Learning that Barnabus lives in a Bell Jar where he is fed cheese and peanuts by the green suits was sad. Everybody will love Barnabus as he is determined, smart, and friendly. I don’t have to be perfect, I just need to be me. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it!” Erin, age 8

“Have you ever experienced a traumatic event in your life? I have! How you move on is important, but not necessarily easy for a kid. I like this book because it helped me to understand how trauma can affect you. Simon is the only kid in his school who survived a school shooting. That is awful! Simon has to continue living despite his past. You have to read. It was powerful, made me laugh, made me cry, and helped me a lot.” 2024 Schneider Family Book Honor for Middle Grades & 2024 Newbery Honor Winner. Tyler, age 14
