Which one will be the 2024 LBPD "GREAT COOKIE"?
Cookies are made and enjoyed all around the world. Chunky, sweet, gooey, or just plain jane, there is a cookie for everyone. Join the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (LBPD) throughout January to vote on the 2024 top cookie!
Starting today, a cookie bracket will be released for the next three weeks to vote for your favorite cookie. We are starting with 8 strong contenders that will battle it out until one is crowned the "Favorite." Shortbread Cookies: Shortbread cookies offer a crunchy, crisp texture and a delightfully buttery flavor.

Black and White Cookies: A vanilla-laden cookie topped with chocolate and vanilla frosting.

Fortune Cookies: Is it a real cookie? This favorite is made from flour, sugar, vanilla, and a dash of sesame seed oil. These crunchy treats are best known for the slips of paper found inside.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies: Roasted macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips nestled in a soft sugar cookie.

Coconut Macaroons: Shredded coconut, a craggy surface, chewy interior, and moist texture describes this cookie the best.

Butter Pecan Cookies: Soft and chewy with toasted pecans that are pushed into the top.

Biscotti: “Biscotti” means “twice baked”. Originating from Italy, these cookies are baked twice to draw out the moisture, resulting in a hard, dry cookie that resists mold, making them a favorite of 14th-century sea travelers.
