It's officially fall and we have many treats for you (no tricks). Thinking about insurance can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. Instead of fearing insurance, think of it as a strategic investment in your financial future. Consider coverage that can protect you from life’s unexpected situations.
Treat yourself to reading about these topics:
While the Maryland Insurance Administration does not sell insurance and we cannot recommend a particular policy or insurance company, we do want to help you learn what types of coverages are available. Additionally, we are here to assist you if you have a complaint involving an insurer, insurance producer, public adjuster or adviser.
There is more to shopping than just finding the lowest premium. What you pay each month for health insurance (the premium) is important, but you also need to understand what the policy covers. A policy with a lower premium seems like a better deal, but a lower premium could mean less coverage or that you will pay more out-of-pocket for your health care. Keep reading for helpful information on how to shop for health insurance coverage.
Beware of Unauthorized Health Plans and Fake Websites!
The Maryland Insurance Administration has become aware of several entities offering unauthorized health insurance plans in Maryland. Unauthorized health plans are those not licensed by the Maryland Insurance Administration, and may be fraudulent, and leave you with large medical bills. Contact us if you believe you were misled by a broker or agent.
The Maryland Department of Health released statewide 2026-2027 vaccine schedules and recommendations for Maryland’s children and adults in advance of the respiratory virus season. The recommendations align with the latest evidence and guidance by leading medical associations.
Want to learn more about vaccine coverage?
Join us for a virtual event on what you need to know about vaccines in Maryland. Presenters from the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland Insurance Administration will share current information on vaccine availability, consumer protections and available resources, including the Health Coverage Assistance Team.
