Compost Bins are coming!
Great news for your garbage! If your home receives trash service from the City’s Public Works Department, you can expect a delivery of a 35 gallon, lidded and wheeled compost toter this week!
These toters can be filled with yard waste, food scraps, and other compostable items and put curbside for pick-up on Monday mornings.
Composting is good for the environment and the City's budget. In Prince George's County it is cheaper to dispose of organic matter than trash waste, so the dollars saved by transitioning your compostable items out of your trash can go towards other City services. instead Talk about turning trash into treasure! The compost collected in the City's toters will be taken to the Prince George's County Organics Composting Facility where it is transformed into LeafGro Gold, a commercially available plant fertilizer.
If you don't receive waste services from the City, you can still take your compost to bulk bins located in City parks!
