Hyattsville Canopy Conservation
Did you meet our goats?! Goats arrived in Driskell Park last week to eat vines, poison ivy, and other invasive plants harming trees. Their work is wrapping up this week, but don't fret, they'll be baaaa-ck in the fall ;)
The goats are part of a grant funded program to address an overgrowth of invasive vines harming Hyattsville’s tree canopy. Currently members of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network are doing a survey of trees across the City, looking for both public and private trees at risk. Be advised that you may see surveyors in the street making notes – they will not be entering private property.
Stay tuned for more volunteer opportunities to assist with Hyattsville’s canopy conservation efforts coming soon! Learn more at hyattsville.org/enviro-education.
