A Message from Secretary Rai:
Honoring Veterans Day
Dr. Sanjay Rai, Maryland's Secretary of Higher Education
Dear Colleagues,
As Veterans Day approaches on Monday, November 11, I want to take a moment to reflect on its significance and acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice of all who served honorably in the military.
We thank our veterans for their unwavering commitment to service, their many contributions to protecting our country, and their strengthening of the many values we hold dear.
In their honor, I am sharing scholarship opportunities available for veterans and their dependents:
-
Veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq Conflicts Scholarship: This program provides financial assistance to veterans and their family members who served in the Afghanistan or Iraq Conflicts. Eligible applicants include veterans with at least 60 days of service, active duty members, and their sons, daughters, or spouses seeking undergraduate degrees in Maryland.
-
Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship offers tuition aid to veterans and their family members attending institutions in Maryland. It is available to children of service members who died or are 100% disabled due to military service, veterans with service-related disabilities, and the children or surviving spouses of victims of the September 11 attacks.
For more information on these scholarships and education benefits for veterans and their families, please visit the Maryland Higher Education Commission's Veterans Benefits webpage.
Let us continue to celebrate and recognize our veterans and their supportive families.
Best regards,
Secretary Rai
